Job Description - Financial Crime Compliance Manager

Job Title: Financial Crime Compliance Manager

Location: Stoke Poges

Contract Length: Temporary (3-6 months)

Randstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services, is currently recruiting for a Financial Crime Compliance Manager. This role is essential for supporting the delivery and ongoing effectiveness of the client's anti-money laundering (AML) and wider financial crime compliance framework.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Financial Crime Compliance Manager to join our Compliance team on a temporary basis.

Reporting directly to the MLRO, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery and ongoing effectiveness of the client's anti-money laundering (AML) and wider financial crime compliance framework.

The role combines day-to-day financial crime oversight with broader compliance responsibilities, including customer due diligence, sanctions and PEP screening, suspicious activity reporting, policy management, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement of financial crime controls.

You will provide support and appropriate cover for the MLRO, including the assessment and escalation of suspicious activity and engagement with relevant authorities where required.

Working closely with colleagues across the business, you will help ensure financial crime risks are appropriately identified, assessed, managed and escalated, while supporting a practical, risk-based approach to compliance.

Key responsibilities

AML and financial crime oversight

*

Support the MLRO in overseeing the effectiveness of the client's AML and financial crime systems and controls, while providing second-line oversight and challenge of customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), and ongoing monitoring activities.

*

Review and assess higher-risk customers, proposed transactions, business arrangements, and screening alerts (sanctions, PEP, adverse media), identifying potential risks and recommending appropriate mitigating, investigative, and escalation actions.

*

Provide second-line oversight of fraud incidents and emerging financial crime risks, working with relevant stakeholders to ensure appropriate investigation, escalation and remediation.

Suspicious activity reporting

*

Support the MLRO in fulfilling their responsibilities and provide appropriate cover during periods of absence, including receiving, reviewing, and evaluating internal suspicious activity reports for potential NCA disclosure.

*

Prepare, review, and submit Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and Defence Against Money Laundering (DAML) requests to the NCA, maintaining supporting rationale, confidentiality, and thorough records in compliance with legal requirements.

*

Assist in coordinating, documenting, and managing NCA enquiries and information requests.

Policies, governance and regulatory compliance

*

Support the development, review, and maintenance of AML, sanctions, and financial crime policies and procedures, monitoring regulatory developments to keep controls aligned with obligations and risk profile.

*

Assist the MLRO with governance reporting (including the AML dashboard) and manage financial crime training initiatives, audit findings, and regulatory recommendations.

Stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement

*

Work collaboratively across the business to provide guidance, constructive challenge, and promote awareness of financial crime risks and responsibilities.

*

Identify process improvements and support wider Compliance projects and initiatives.

Experience and skills

Essential

*

Practical experience in AML, financial crime compliance, or risk management, supported by solid knowledge of UK AML requirements, the Proceeds of Crime Act, and Money Laundering Regulations.

*

Hands-on experience reviewing CDD/EDD, financial crime alerts, and assessing, preparing, or submitting SARs and DAML requests to the NCA.

*

Demonstrated experience supporting an MLRO or undertaking similar nominated officer responsibilities.

*

Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills to exercise sound risk-based judgement, manage competing priorities, and maintain accurate records.

Desirable

*

Experience developing policies, procedures, and risk assessments, along with familiarity with AML screening tools, risk assessment systems, and management information.

*

Background in financial services, lending, or asset finance, complemented by professional qualifications (ICA, ACAMS, or equivalent).

What we're looking for

*

A collaborative professional with sound technical knowledge who can work independently, exercise professional judgement, and engage effectively with stakeholders across all levels.

*

Candidates with transferable experience are welcomed to contribute to an established Compliance function, support the MLRO, and strengthen financial crime controls
