What to expect

As a Financial Crime Transactional Monitoring Officer you will join us on our journey and undertake a valuable role responsbile for providing day‑to‑day operational management of the Transaction Monitoring function while remaining fully accountable for conducting hands‑on transaction monitoring activity.

The role combines deep analytical capability with operational leadership, ensuring that transaction monitoring alerts are reviewed consistently, escalated appropriately, and progressed in line with Financial Crime procedures, regulatory expectations, and Post Office values.

The role holder will act as a subject‑matter expert and first‑line leader, providing technical guidance, quality oversight, and direction to analysts, while personally handling complex, sensitive, or higher‑risk cases.

They will role‑model Post Office behaviours, demonstrate a Postmaster‑first mindset, and support a culture of inclusion, continuous improvement, and high performance.

What you’ll need to succeed

Experience

• Experience in a financial crime, fraud, AML or transaction monitoring environment


• Demonstrable experience reviewing transactional data and identifying suspicious activity


• Experience handling complex or higher‑risk financial crime cases


• Experience working within defined regulatory, legal, and policy frameworks


• Experience providing technical guidance, quality oversight, or informal leadership within a team

Skills and Capabilities

• Strong analytical and investigative skills with sound professional judgement


• Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce clear, defensible case rationales


• Confidence to challenge, escalate, and make decisions where appropriate


• Ability to balance hands‑on delivery with leadership responsibilities


• Strong communication skills, able to explain decisions and risk clearly


• Comfortable working with data, systems, and reporting tools


• High levels of personal integrity and discretion when handling sensitive information


• Commitment to continuous improvement and team development
