Job Title: Fire & Security Service & Maintenance Engineer Job Type: Full-Time – Permanent. Salary: Competitive Salary Up To £45,600 PA, Depending on Experience. Location: Stockton-on-Tees – Covering the North East. Schedule: 8.00am to 4.30pm (with ½ hr lunch break) - 31 days (including statutory holidays). Job Description: As a Fire & Security Service & Maintenance Engineer , you will be a key member of the Fire & Security team, responsible for the servicing, maintenance, testing, fault finding, repair and ongoing support of fire detection and electronic security systems across a range of commercial and industrial client sites. The role will involve working across Fire Alarm Systems, CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Alarms, Disabled Refuge Systems, Public Address Systems, Induction Loops and associated network infrastructure, ensuring systems remain fully operational, compliant and maintained to a high standard. You will undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance and emergency call-outs, diagnose faults, identify system issues and complete repairs and remedial works efficiently and professionally. Reporting to the Projects Manager, you will be responsible for attending client sites, carrying out maintenance and servicing activities safely and effectively, and ensuring all works are completed in accordance with company procedures, client requirements, relevant legislation, British Standards, manufacturers' requirements and industry best practice. You will be expected to demonstrate strong technical knowledge, excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. You must demonstrate knowledge of relevant British and European Standards, including BS 5839 (Fire Detection and Alarm Systems), BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations), BS EN 50174 (Cabling Installation) and applicable NSI Codes of Practice , together with relevant manufacturer requirements. Key Duties & Responsibilities Installation, Commissioning & Engineering Delivery: Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on Fire Alarm Systems, CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Alarm Systems, Disabled Refuge Systems, Public Address Systems, Induction Loops and associated systems. Attend reactive maintenance and emergency call-outs to diagnose and resolve system faults. Carry out inspection, testing and servicing of systems in accordance with relevant standards, manufacturers' requirements and client maintenance agreements. Diagnose faults using appropriate test equipment, software and technical information. Identify the root cause of faults and complete effective corrective and remedial works. Carry out repairs, component replacements, system modifications and minor upgrades as required. Test systems following maintenance and repair to ensure they are fully operational and fit for purpose. Identify potential system failures or areas requiring remedial action and communicate these to the relevant Project Manager or customer. Provide technical support and assistance to colleagues where required. Liaise with manufacturers, suppliers, Alarm Receiving Centres (ARC), clients and other third parties to assist with fault resolution where required. Support installation and commissioning activities where required, including minor installation works, system modifications and upgrades. · Ensure all maintenance and repair works are completed to a high standard, maintaining system reliability and customer satisfaction. Technical Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all servicing, maintenance, testing and remedial works are completed in accordance with relevant British Standards, including BS 5839, BS 7671, BS EN 50174, applicable NSI Codes of Practice and manufacturer requirements. Complete accurate service reports, maintenance records, certificates and other required documentation following each visit. Clearly record faults identified, work undertaken, parts and materials used, outstanding issues and any recommendations for further works. Update company systems with accurate information relating to completed works, follow-up requirements and additional works identified. Ensure all paperwork and electronic records are completed accurately and within the required timescales. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, British Standards, technologies, products and manufacturer requirements. Ensure all tools, equipment and test equipment are maintained in good working condition, calibrated where required and used correctly. · Ensure any additional works or remedial requirements identified during maintenance visits are communicated clearly to the relevant Project Manager. Customer & Site Responsibilities: Represent the company professionally at all times when attending client premises. Communicate effectively with customers, contractors, and other site personnel. Provide clear explanations regarding system operation, completed works, and any outstanding requirements. Deliver customer demonstrations and basic system training where required. Ensure sites are left clean, safe, and secure following completion of works. · Maintain a professional approach when dealing with customer complaints, technical issues or service-related queries. Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ): Follow all company health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures. Complete work in accordance with Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Safe Systems of Work & Procedures. Carry out dynamic risk assessments and report any hazards, unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses. Use all required PPE and ensure safe working practices are maintained at all times. Ensure company vehicles, tools, equipment, and materials are used responsibly and maintained appropriately. Support a positive safety culture by actively promoting safe working practices. · Adhere to all responsibilities outlined in the Company Health, Safety & Environmental Policy Manual. Vehicle, Tools & Equipment · Maintain company vehicles in a clean, safe and roadworthy condition. · Ensure tools, test equipment, spare parts and materials required for service and maintenance activities are available and appropriately maintained. · Carry out regular checks of vehicle stock and equipment and report any shortages or defects. · Ensure materials and equipment are used responsibly and efficiently. · Maintain appropriate records relating to vehicle, tools and equipment checks where required. General: Complete all company documentation accurately and within required timescales. Maintain a professional appearance and uphold ACEDA Ltd’s reputation when representing the company. Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Engineering team. Attend training courses and maintain relevant industry qualifications and competencies. · Undertake additional duties as reasonably required to meet business needs.
