An established national fire and security business is looking for an experienced Fire Detection and Alarm Engineer to join its London service team.

This is a field-based position covering planned servicing, fault-finding, repairs and small works across a varied customer portfolio. Alongside the guaranteed £32,000 salary, you will have the opportunity to increase your earnings through an uncapped commission scheme and additional on-call payments.

The package

£32,000 guaranteed basic salary

Uncapped commission on qualifying invoiced work

*

Commission typically paid at 10% on qualifying works completed

*

Between 5% and 12% commission on additional small works, depending on the job’s gross margin

*

Commission for generating new service contracts and installation opportunities

*

£14 per day when on standby

*

£40 standby payment on bank holidays, plus a day off in lieu

*

£61.50 for each out-of-hours call-out attended on site

*

Normal commission may also apply to qualifying work completed during a call-out

*

Additional £60 per day for qualifying pre-arranged weekend service work

*

The role

You will be responsible for maintaining fire detection and alarm systems across customer sites throughout London and the surrounding area.

Your responsibilities will include:

Completing planned preventative maintenance and routine system inspections

*

Diagnosing and resolving faults on fire detection and alarm systems

*

Attending reactive and out-of-hours call-outs when required

*

Completing minor repairs, upgrades and small works

*

Identifying additional remedial work during service visits

*

Producing accurate reports and quotations for required work

*

Managing assigned jobs through to customer sign-off

*

Maintaining high standards of compliance, safety and customer service

*

Participating in the team’s standby and on-call rota

What we are looking for

*

Previous experience servicing fire detection and alarm systems

*

Strong fault-finding and diagnostic ability

*

Working knowledge of relevant British Standards, including BS 5839

*

The ability to complete service documentation accurately

*

A professional and customer-focused approach

*

Willingness to participate in an on-call rota

*

Full UK driving licence

*

Relevant fire alarm or electrical qualifications would be advantageous
