£14 - £16 per hour

We are looking for a reliable and experienced Fitter to join our mechanical services client based near Bury St Edmunds. This role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical components, especially valves, pumps, and piping systems across industrial and commercial sites.

Responsibilities

• Fitting, assembling, and installing mechanical systems including valves, pumps, and pipework
• Interpreting and working from detailed engineering drawings
• Conducting fault finding and mechanical inspections as part of routine and reactive maintenance
• Using hand and power tools to carry out precise mechanical tasks
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards at all times.
• Collaborating with engineers and other tradespeople to complete projects efficiently
• Working independently and within a team to meet project deadlines and quality expectations.
• Maintaining accurate records of completed work and report any issues or delays

Skills

• Previous experience in a fitter role within a mechanical or industrial environment
• Hands on knowledge of fitting and assembling valves, pumps, and pipe systems
• Strong mechanical aptitude and tool handling skills
• Ability to interpret and execute complex technical drawings
• Self-motivated, safety conscious, and detail oriented
