About the Role:

A secondary school in Kingston upon Thames is seeking a passionate and skilled Food Technology Teacher to join their Design and Technology department. This is a full-time, permanent position, offering the opportunity to inspire students and foster a love of cooking, nutrition, and food science. The Food Technology Teacher will teach across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and practical Food Technology lessons.


• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners.


• Assess student progress and provide regular feedback.


• Maintain accurate records of student attainment and progress.


• Create a safe, positive, and inclusive kitchen environment.


• Collaborate with colleagues within the D&T department.


• Contribute to the development of the Food Technology curriculum.


• Ensure compliance with all food hygiene and safety regulations.


• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians.


• Adhere to all school safeguarding policies.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.


• Proven experience teaching Food Technology/Food Preparation and Nutrition at Key Stages 3 and 4 (GCSE).


• Strong knowledge of food hygiene, safety, and nutrition.


• Excellent practical cooking skills.


• Excellent classroom and kitchen management skills.


• Ability to motivate and engage students.


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.


• Commitment to continuous professional development.
