The Opportunity
A leading engineering & manufacturing organisation is seeking a Forge Supervisor to join its operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven production leader to take responsibility for a key manufacturing area, driving performance across safety, quality, delivery, productivity and people development.
Working within a fast-paced industrial environment, you will lead a team to ensure production targets are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
Lead daily forge operations to achieve production, quality and delivery targets. Monitor and improve departmental KPIs including OEE, productivity, inventory control and cost performance. Manage resources, equipment and manpower to optimise production efficiency. Support production scheduling and adjust plans where required to maintain customer commitments. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the department.Health, Safety & Environmental
Promote and maintain a strong safety-first culture. Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental requirements. Complete risk assessments, safe working procedures and accident investigations. Lead corrective and preventative actions arising from audits, incidents and inspections. Champion housekeeping and 5S standards throughout the area.Quality & Process Improvement
Work closely with Quality, Engineering and Technical teams to resolve process and product issues. Support investigations into quality deviations and implement corrective actions. Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, efficiency and reliability. Ensure compliance with customer and business quality standards.People Leadership
Lead, motivate and develop a team of production employees. Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, performance reviews and development discussions. Manage attendance, return-to-work processes and holiday planning. Support employee relations activities including disciplinary and grievance procedures. Develop team capability through coaching, mentoring and training.Skills & Experience
Essential
Previous supervisory or team leadership experience within a steel/forging/heat treatment manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of health and safety requirements. Experience managing operational performance against KPIs. Excellent communication and people management skills. Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities. Competent user of Microsoft Office applications.Desirable
Experience in Engineering, Manufacturing or a related discipline.
Experience within forging, metals, heavy engineering, heat treatment or similar industrial sectors. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies. Experience of manpower planning, materials control and production scheduling.What We're Looking For
