Materials Characterisation and Formulation Scientist Role:
Design and run lab studies assessing how variability in raw materials, APIs, and suppliers affects drug product manufacturability and performance. Apply Science of Scale principles and predictive/computational modelling to build small-scale models that represent full-scale manufacturing processes. Lead experimental work across core unit operations: powder blending and content uniformity, wet/dry granulation, powder flow, tablet compression and compaction, tablet sticking, film coating, and stability testing. Investigate how material attributes and process parameters drive critical quality attributes, interpreting data to explain scale-dependent behaviour. Collaborate with formulation, manufacturing, and analytical scientists to deliver risk-based recommendations, documenting work to GLP and SOP standards. Produce technical reports and presentations summarising findings, and track project progress for programme leads and stakeholders.Your Background:
Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline. Working experience in pharmaceutical formulation, process development, or manufacturing sciences. Solid grounding in drug product formulation and manufacturing, particularly oral solid dosage forms and unit operations like blending, granulation, compression, and coating. Hands-on experience with process modelling, data analysis, or simulation tools to predict process/product performance. Skilled at interpreting complex datasets and translating results into practical, science-based recommendations. Strong technical writing and communication skills, able to present findings clearly to multidisciplinary, global teams. Solid problem-solving ability, able to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and collaboratively.Apply: For more information, or to apply for this Formulation Scientist position, please contact the Key Accounts Team on (phone number removed) or email (url removed).
