Job Title: Foundation Tutor

Location: Watford, Herts
Contract: Fixed Term – Maternity Cover, starting November 2026
Salary: £28,000–£32,000 per annum

The Role:

Our client is looking for an enthusiastic and inspiring Foundation Tutor to join their Post-16 education centre.

The Foundation Tutor will support 16–19-year-old learners who may face barriers to education, including those with special educational needs and those returning to education or preparing for their next steps.

You will teach foundation-level subjects including careers, personal and social development, life skills and progression, helping learners build confidence, skills and knowledge.

About you:

We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and can act as a positive role model.

Essential:

* PTLLS, DTLLS, Cert Ed or PGCE, or willingness to work towards a teaching qualification

* Experience teaching learners with different abilities or learning needs

* GCSE or equivalent Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above

* Experience supporting learners with learning differences

* Confident teaching and presentation skills

* Knowledge of EHCPs

Desirable:

* SEN qualifications

* Assessor qualification

If you do not currently hold a teaching or assessing qualification, our client can support you in gaining the appropriate qualification.

Key Responsibilities

* Plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet individual learner needs.

* Teach personal, social development, life skills, careers and progression.

* Differentiate resources and activities in line with EHCPs and learner needs.

* Monitor, assess and record learner progress.

* Provide pastoral support and conduct progress reviews.

* Manage behaviour in line with our client's policies.

* Support inclusion, safeguarding and equal opportunities.

* Organise educational trips, events and activities.

* Work effectively with learning support assistants and external speakers.

* Attend team meetings, CPD and Ofsted inspections as required.

* Reflect on and continually improve teaching practice.
