Freelance Design Manager

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Freelance Design Manager to join a major £45m refurbishment and redevelopment scheme in Coventry, an ambitious project creating a new cultural hub for the city.

With works progressing, our client is looking to strengthen the design team with an experienced Design Manager who can take ownership of key design elements and provide strong technical coordination through the next stages of the project.

The role will have a particular focus on fire protection and internal construction details, so experience with the following is highly desirable:

* Fire protection of structural steelwork

* Partition design and detailing

* Cavity barriers

* Internal construction and associated technical packages

* Design coordination and management

* Working closely with consultants, subcontractors and the wider project team

The ideal candidate:

* Experienced Design Manager with a strong main contractor background

* Experience working for a reputable Tier 1, Tier 2 or strong regional main contractor

* Proven experience on mid-to-large scale construction projects

* Strong technical understanding of construction design and coordination

* Specific experience with fire protection, steelwork, partitions and cavity barriers

* Confident managing design information and coordinating multiple stakeholders

* Able to integrate quickly into an established project team

* Available to start ASAP

This is a great opportunity to work on a high-profile £45m scheme in Coventry, with an initial requirement of 4–6 months and a competitive rate of £400–£450 per day, outside IR35.
