Job Description - Freight Account Manager

Job Opportunity: Road Freight Sales & Account Manager – Confidential Logistics Provider
Location: Stockport
Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: £30,000 – £60,000 DOE + Uncapped Commission & Bonus Scheme

About the Role

A well-established logistics provider is seeking a driven and customer-focused Road Freight Sales & Account Manager to manage and grow freight accounts across the UK and EU. This is a full-cycle sales role—from prospecting and quoting to onboarding and retention—focused on delivering exceptional service and driving account profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Account Management & Growth

  • Manage a portfolio of client accounts, acting as the primary point of contact
  • Monitor freight needs and upsell services to increase volume and value
  • Conduct regular account reviews to identify opportunities and ensure client satisfaction

New Business Development

  • Prospect new clients via cold-calling, email outreach, networking, and CRM tools
  • Prepare tailored proposals and quotes for potential customers
  • Attend industry events and trade shows to expand your network

Sales Strategy & Reporting

  • Develop strategic account plans and set performance targets
  • Track KPIs and report on pipeline, revenue, and client health

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in road freight/logistics sales and account management (UK/EU market)
  • Proven success in meeting or exceeding B2B sales targets
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel) and sales reporting tools
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
