Freight Operator

Experienced Irish Freight Operator required to join an established team. Day-to-day coordination of freight moving to and from Ireland, trailer planning and transport operations are the core focus of this role, alongside supporting the wider transport team to ensure deliveries run smoothly.

Ideal candidate for the role of Irish Freight Operator would possess strong transport, freight forwarding, or logistics knowledge, be confident handling high call volumes and have a good understanding of busy transport management systems.

Irish Freight Operator Duties:

* Manage the day-to-day operation of Irish freight movements from collection to delivery

* Plan and coordinate trailers and transport movements efficiently

* Liaise closely with customers, transport agents, hauliers and delivery depots

* Handle a high volume of telephone calls and emails from customers and partners daily

* Arrange delivery bookings and monitor freight to ensure runs are progressing as planned

* Follow up on outstanding deliveries, issues and exceptions through to resolution

* Use the company's Transport Management System (TMS) and Excel to log freight

* Assist with preparing and checking transport and export paperwork where required

Irish Freight Operator Skills & Experience:

* Solid experience working within a transport, freight forwarding or logistics environment – essential

* Previous hands-on experience using a Transport Management System (TMS) – essential

* Experience with Irish freight, import/export operations, or customs is a major plus but not essential

* Good IT skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

* Strong communication skills with a confident telephone manner

* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced office

* Proactive problem-solver who can deal with transit issues calmly and efficiently

* Flexible attitude with the ability to cover holiday and sickness when needed

Location: Redditch, Worcestershire
Hours: Mon to Fri, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (Office based)
Salary: £30,000 p.a.
Contract: Permanent
