About the Role

We are recruiting for a motivated and commercially aware Logistics Operator to join a growing road freight and transport operation based in Immingham.

Working as part of an established team, you will be responsible for coordinating road freight movements, sourcing haulage solutions, building relationships with subcontractors and carriers, and ensuring customers receive a high level of service throughout the transport process.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced transport professional who enjoys working within a fast-paced logistics environment and wants to play a key role in supporting the continued growth of a successful transport business.

Whilst operational delivery remains the primary focus of the role, you will also be encouraged to identify opportunities to improve margins, strengthen supplier relationships, and contribute to the wider success of the operation.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage and develop opportunities across the company’s freight exchange platforms and transport networks

* Build and maintain strong relationships with hauliers, carriers, customers, and logistics partners

* Obtain competitive transport rates and negotiate where appropriate

* Finalising / closing deals including client set up, customs formalities and credit terms

* Source and negotiate subcontractors, hauliers, and transport solutions to meet customer requirements

* Coordinate UK and European road freight movements efficiently and cost-effectively.

* Monitor shipments and ensure freight movements are completed in line with customer requirements

* Identify opportunities to improve margins, maximise profitability, and increase operational efficiency

* Maintain high levels of customer service and communication throughout the transport process

* Work closely with internal teams to ensure the smooth delivery of transport solutions
Support the continued growth and development of the company's road freight operation

Key Requirements

* Minimum 2 years' experience within an operational/sales role in transport, logistics, road freight, or freight forwarding
Good understanding of UK and/or European road freight operations

* Commercially aware with the ability to negotiate and manage transport costs

* Understand logistics formalities i.e. Import and Export Customs. An understanding of Destin8 would be an advantage.

* Have a good understanding for the European trailer market, a distinct advantage.

* Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment

* Experience using freight exchange platforms would be advantageous

* Proactive, motivated, and solutions-focused approach

* Salary: Circa £30,000.00 + (Dependant on Experience)

* Monday–Friday working pattern

* 08:00am – 4:30pm working hours | 42.5hrs pw
