About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Fresh Produce Team Leader to join a busy, fast-paced packing and production operation in the West Midlands.
This is a hands-on leadership position with responsibility for the day-to-day running of an automated packing line. You will lead and support a production team, ensuring daily targets are achieved safely and efficiently while maintaining high standards of product quality, food safety and presentation.
The position would suit an experienced Team Leader, Packing Leader, Production Team Leader or Line Supervisor with a background in fresh produce, food manufacturing, food packing or a similar production environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, motivate and support a team of production and packing operatives.
* Take responsibility for the safe and efficient running of the packing line.
* Set up and operate flow wrapping and automated packing equipment, including basic adjustments and changeovers.
* Ensure daily production schedules and customer requirements are achieved.
* Monitor product quality, weights, labels, packaging and presentation.
* Monitor line performance and maximise productivity while maintaining quality standards.
* Identify machinery or production issues and carry out basic troubleshooting where appropriate.
* Minimise downtime, product waste and production losses.
* Complete production records and relevant documentation accurately.
* Ensure food safety, hygiene and Health & Safety procedures are followed.
* Work closely with Production, Technical, Quality and Engineering teams.
* Train and support team members and maintain high housekeeping standards.
Essential Requirements
* Minimum NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent.
* Previous experience within fresh produce, food manufacturing, food processing or food packing.
* Previous experience leading or supervising a production or packing team.
* Experience with flow wrapping, automated packaging or similar production machinery.
* Good mechanical awareness, including basic machine adjustments and fault finding.
* Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
* Good understanding of production targets, quality standards, food safety and Health & Safety.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
* Basic computer literacy and ability to complete production documentation.
* Flexible approach to working hours.
Experience with high-speed automated packing equipment, machine changeovers, food safety qualifications or materials-handling equipment would be advantageous.
