Front of House Assistant

Job Description - Front of House Assistant

Front of House Assistant

Award-Winning Country Pub with Rooms | Quality Food-Led Operation

Knaresborough, North Yorkshire

National Minimum Wage + Tronc

45 Hours | 5-Day Week | Excellent Training & Progression

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Front of House Assistant to join the team at an award-winning country pub with rooms near Knaresborough and Harrogate.

Recently relaunched following an extensive restoration, this beautiful 18th-century coaching inn combines a quality restaurant and traditional pub, eight individually designed bedrooms, private dining, a large bar and outdoor terrace.

Food is a major focus of the business, with menus built around outstanding Yorkshire produce and refined British pub cooking, while the wider operation is centred around delivering genuinely warm, relaxed and professional hospitality.

This could be an excellent opportunity for someone already working within hospitality, or an enthusiastic individual looking to build their career within a quality food-led operation.

The Venue

This is much more than a traditional village pub.

The operation includes:

  • Quality restaurant dining

  • Busy bar and relaxed pub service

  • Eight luxury bedrooms

  • Private dining and group occasions

  • Outdoor terrace and beer garden

  • Regular events and special occasions

The restaurant showcases the best of Yorkshire produce, combining hearty British pub classics with a more refined, ingredient-led approach to cooking.

For someone developing their hospitality career, it offers excellent exposure across a varied operation rather than simply working within one restaurant floor.

The Role

Working as part of the front-of-house team, you'll help deliver a warm and memorable experience for guests throughout the venue.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing friendly and professional front-of-house service

  • Serving food and beverages throughout restaurant and bar services

  • Welcoming guests and helping create an excellent first impression

  • Developing strong knowledge of the food and beverage offering

  • Communicating menus, drinks and the venue's approach confidently to guests

  • Preparing the restaurant and bar for service

  • Clearing, polishing and maintaining excellent presentation standards

  • Supporting the wider team during busy services

  • Maintaining excellent attention to detail

  • Ensuring consistently high standards of customer service

  • Helping create the relaxed but professional hospitality the venue is known for

About You

Previous high-end hospitality experience isn't essential.

We're particularly interested in someone who is:

  • Friendly, approachable and naturally comfortable with guests

  • Enthusiastic about hospitality

  • Hardworking and reliable

  • Positive and team-focused

  • Keen to learn and develop

  • Organised with excellent attention to detail

  • A confident communicator

  • Passionate about delivering excellent customer service

  • Interested in developing a long-term career within hospitality

Experience within restaurants, pubs or hotels would certainly be advantageous, but attitude, character and willingness to learn are equally important.

Working Pattern

  • 45 hours per week

  • 5 days from 7

  • Full-time position

  • Restaurant operates across lunch and dinner services

The Package

  • National Minimum Wage + tronc

  • Staff discounts across the wider hospitality group

  • Freshly cooked staff meals

  • Internal and external training opportunities

  • Excellent career development

  • Opportunity to develop within a growing hospitality business

  • On-site parking

Why This Role?

This is a particularly good opportunity for someone who wants to learn hospitality properly within a quality operation.

You'll gain exposure to restaurant and bar service, bedrooms, private dining and events while working within an ambitious food-led business with genuine opportunities to develop.

Previous experience is less important than having the right personality, work ethic and enthusiasm, making it equally suitable for an existing FOH professional or someone looking to take their first serious step into quality hospitality.
