Frontend Developer

The role

We are seeking a skilled Frontend Developer to join a collaborative Agile delivery team. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving improvements through both new system functionality and changes to supporting processes. You will work alongside experts in technical development to scope and design solutions that meet a range of business and technical requirements, while ensuring the needs of the user remain at the heart of the service.

Responsibilities

* Technical design, collaborating with architect and designers to help design and shape the technical approach, solution and user interface, knowledge of accessibility standards.

* Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement sessions.

* Develop, maintain, and enhance frontend features and functionality across web-based user interfaces.

* Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers to ensure solutions are accessible, responsive, and aligned with design standards and best practices.

* Review and contribute to merge requests, promoting high coding standards, maintainability, and consistency across the codebase.

* Work alongside backend developers to integrate frontend applications with shared services, APIs, and workflow management capabilities.

* Identify and resolve defects, performance issues, and usability concerns.

* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including development practices, tooling, and team processes.

* Ensure solutions meet quality, accessibility, security, and performance requirements.

Skills & experience

You will have the following skills or proven experience:

* Strong proficiency in HTML

* Expertise in current programming languages and frameworks such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Nunjucks(optional) and Node.js(Express/Fastify) along with experience working with cloud platforms AWS & Azure, utilising CI/CD.

* Proven ability in delivering thorough unit level test coverage using common testing frameworks such as Jest or Mocha

* Experience integrating with wide range of technical systems including database technologies (SQL or NoSQL), caching tools such as Redis and API Microservices, all deploying into cloud-based infrastructure

* A passion for clean, maintainable, secure software

* You’ll have successfully provided technical leadership to Agile project teams, having delivered high-quality software solutions that make a real impact, with experience of breaking down designs into deliverable technical stories. Strategic and self-driven, you’re an expert in communicating technical information with clarity and confidence

* You’ll thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment where creativity is key to solving complex and unprecedented challenges.

* Proven experience developing modern, responsive web applications.

* Experience working within Agile software delivery teams.

* Strong understanding of web accessibility standards and best practices.

* Understanding of frontend integration with backend services and APIs.

* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

* Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

* Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including designers, developers, and stakeholders.

* Commitment to delivering high-quality, maintainable, and user-focused solutions.
