The Role
As a Backend Software Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, developing and maintaining the core backend services that power a modern SaaS platform.
Working closely with Product Managers and senior engineers, you'll help deliver new functionality, improve system performance and build integrations with a range of third-party platforms and APIs.
You'll also support the ongoing development of cloud infrastructure, data pipelines and operational tooling that enables the wider business to scale efficiently.
This is a varied role offering plenty of technical ownership and the opportunity to contribute across the full software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services using Python and FastAPI. Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and third-party integrations. Build and optimise backend services supporting high-quality customer experiences. Design and improve PostgreSQL database structures and performance. Develop and maintain cloud-based services hosted within AWS. Support data processing and integration pipelines. Contribute to CI/CD and deployment processes. Produce clean, well-tested and well-documented code. Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions. Work collaboratively with Product, Engineering and Operations teams to deliver new functionality. Troubleshoot production issues and continually improve system reliability. Develop internal tools and automations that improve business efficiency. Essential Experience
We're looking for someone who has:
1–3 years' experience in a Backend or Full Stack Software Engineering role. Strong Python development experience. Experience using FastAPI, Django or Flask. Good knowledge of PostgreSQL or other relational databases. Strong SQL skills. Experience developing REST APIs. Experience integrating with third-party APIs. Familiarity with Git and modern software development workflows. Good understanding of testing and software quality. Excellent problem-solving skills. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Desirable Experience
Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:
AWS (Lambda, RDS, S3, Elastic Beanstalk or similar) Docker CI/CD pipelines Cloud-native applications Microservices architecture CRM or third-party API integrations SaaS product development Event-driven architectures About You
