Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:40pm
Contract: Full-time, temporary to permanent
Start Date: ASAP or following your current notice period
Transport: Own transport or reliable commuting arrangements essential

The Opportunity
We are recruiting a reliable, compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Royston, Hertfordshire.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) who is looking for a long-term role with the potential to become permanent.

The school offers opportunities for professional development and specialist training once permanent, making this an attractive opportunity for candidates looking to develop their knowledge, skills and career within special education.

Please note: This is a full-time position only. Candidates must be available Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4:40pm, and have their own transport or reliable daily commuting arrangements. The school is most accessible by car.

Key Responsibilities
Support pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities.
Help children access learning, develop confidence and build independence.
Provide individualised support in line with pupils' needs and learning plans.
Encourage communication, engagement and positive social interaction.
Work closely with teachers and other members of the school team.
Help maintain a safe, structured and supportive learning environment.
Specialist Training and Career Development

Once permanent, training opportunities include:

Makaton and communication support.
LEGO Therapy.
PRICE training.
Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Sensory learning approaches.
Manual handling.
Thrive approaches to emotional wellbeing and development.
Further specialist SEND training and professional development.

This is an opportunity to expand your practical skills, develop specialist knowledge and build a long-term career in SEND education.

Essential Requirements
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND.
GCSEs, including good literacy and numeracy skills.
A patient, dependable and committed approach.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Confidence supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
Excellent reliability and attendance.
Full-time availability, Monday to Friday.
Own transport or a reliable means of commuting to the school.
Working Hours and Contract
Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4:40pm.
Full-time only.
Temporary-to-permanent opportunity.
