Functional Skills Lecturer / Tutor

Job Title: Functional Skills Tutor (English and Maths)
Location: Burton and Swadlincote
Start Date: Immediate Start
Salary: £23 - £27 per hour

Are you an experienced Functional Skills Tutor with a passion for helping learners develop their English and Maths skills?

Do you have experience delivering Functional Skills qualifications from Entry Level through to Level 2?

Are you confident adapting your teaching approach to engage learners undertaking vocational and construction training programmes?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a construction skills training provider in the Burton and Swadlincote area, who are looking to appoint a Functional Skills Tutor. The setting focuses on supporting learners undertaking construction-related qualifications, helping them develop essential English and Maths skills to achieve their qualifications and progress towards employment.

The training provider is looking to take on an enthusiastic Functional Skills Tutor on a full-time, long-term basis, starting immediately. The successful Functional Skills Tutor will deliver engaging English and Maths sessions from Entry Level through to Level 2, assess learner progress, develop individual learning plans and provide group and one-to-one support, whilst preparing learners for assessments and incorporating practical construction-related examples into their teaching.

The successful Functional Skills Tutor will have:

A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, CertEd, DTLLS or Level 3 Award in Education and Training

Experience delivering Functional Skills English and Maths from Entry Level through to Level 2

Experience supporting learners within Further Education, apprenticeships or vocational training programmes

Experience within a construction training environment would be advantageous but is not essential

Excellent classroom management and strong communication skills

A flexible, adaptable and enthusiastic approach to supporting learners with different abilities and learning needs
