Job Description - Functional Skills Tutor

Functional Skills Tutor - English and Maths
Based: Nottingham -

Salary: Negotiable up to £30,000 (Negotiable DOE)
Permanent Full Time Role

(Part-time 4 days per week role also considered)
INTRO
We are working with a leading training organisation in the City of Nottingham, who offer a wide range of training including employability related courses and Apprenticeships.
They currently have a new vacancy for a Maths and English Tutor to join their team. The role will mainly be based from their Nottingham centre, with some travel to other sites around the East Midlands as required.
The aim of this role is to improve the career prospects and motivation of people from diverse backgrounds, both in the workplace within Apprenticeships and other programmes, and in-house as required. This can be achieved through one-to-one, group work, structured taught sessions and other innovative activities to achieve nationally recognised qualifications and suitable progression.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Experience of delivering English and Maths Functional Skills (entry to level 2)
Hold English and maths Functional Skills qualifications at level 2 or above
Experience of working with and supporting mixed ability adults and young people
Experience of positively engaging and motivating learners
Driving licence and own transport.
DESIRABLE (Not essential):
Experience of delivering GCSE English
Holding a level 5 subject specialism
A recognised teaching qualification at a minimum of level 4.
The Role:
Plan and deliver training to learners that identifies individual learning needs, preferred approaches and prior skills and knowledge, to ensure maximum impact. This will include workplace sessions, 1:1 coaching and in-house training where necessary.
Make good and effective use of ICT demonstrating active learning.
Achieve required outcomes in relation to English & Mathematics from Entry Level to L2 and/or GCSE
To be responsible for a caseload of learners in terms of progression and achievement.
Liaise with employers, assessors and other trainers (as appropriate) to ensure that learners are motivated to continue with their programme and achieve their qualifications.
Diagnose learners English, Maths and Digital Skills needs and requirements by using various teaching aids and diagnostic resources.
Work with learners to agree and set realistic targets ensuring learners are provided with relevant information regarding the aims, objectives and activities of the programme.
Maintain both paper based and electronic assessment records and quality processes as required
Prepare and develop innovative lesson plans, design and deliver group activities and individual support, which enhances learning, development and achievement of qualifications, to include reviewing and setting agreed targets.
Maintain a safe and suitable learning environment at all times, meeting the needs of learners and employers.
