Pay: £15.00 per hour

Working Days: Monday to Friday | 7:00am – 3:00pm

Location: Halifax, HX3 0EB | Local Authority Contract

SWIFT Temps Ltd – Industrial Recruitment Division is currently recruiting Gardeners / Horticulturalists to work on behalf of Calderdale Council.

This role involves maintaining and improving Calderdale's parks, green spaces and public areas, ensuring they are safe, attractive and well presented for residents and visitors.

About the Role

As a Gardener / Horticulturalist, you will work as part of a grounds maintenance team carrying out a wide variety of horticultural and landscaping duties across Calderdale. This is a physically active outdoor role requiring a good level of fitness, attention to detail and the ability to work safely using horticultural equipment and machinery.

Key Responsibilities

* Carry out routine grounds maintenance across parks, open spaces and public areas.

* Grass cutting using pedestrian and ride-on mowers.

* Hedge trimming and shrub maintenance.

* Strimming around trees, fences and pathways.

* Planting, pruning and maintaining ornamental flower beds and landscaped areas.

* Fine turf maintenance.

* Tree and woodland maintenance as required.

* Hard and soft landscaping duties.

* Operate, clean and carry out basic maintenance of horticultural machinery and equipment.

* Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times.

* Provide a courteous and professional service when interacting with members of the public.

Requirements

* Previous gardening, horticultural or grounds maintenance experience is desirable.

* Experience using mowers, hedge cutters, strimmers and other horticultural equipment.

* Good physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

* Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively within a team.

* A positive attitude with good communication skills.

* A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential.

* 7:00am – 3:00pm

* Full-time hours
