Gas Fitter

My client is an award-winning company who are on a mission to provide the UK with Energy Efficient Homes.

The gas fitter is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing gas systems and appliances in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of gas equipment, comply with regulations and standards, and provide quality service to clients.

Responsibilities & Duties:

* Installing, connecting, and commissioning gas appliances, heating systems, boilers, and pipework according to manufacturer specifications, building codes, and safety regulations.

* Performing pressure and leak tests to verify the integrity of gas installations and ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety requirements.

* Coordinating with clients, contractors, and building inspectors to schedule installations and obtain necessary permits or approvals as needed.

* Conducting routine maintenance inspections of gas systems and appliances to identify and address potential issues, such as leaks, corrosion, or faulty components.

* Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and control system problems affecting gas equipment, using diagnostic tools and technical expertise.

* Performing repairs, replacements, and adjustments to gas appliances, valves, regulators, burners, and associated components to restore functionality and efficiency. Adhering to safety protocols, regulations, and industry standards for the installation, operation, and maintenance of gas systems and equipment.

* Maintaining compliant with company standards and procedures & adhering to Health and Safety protocols.

* Conducting risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety checks to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards and ensure safe working conditions.

* Liaising with internal departments such as QSHE with regards to safety hazards and reporting near misses.

* Maintaining accurate records of gas installations, inspections, and maintenance activities, including documentation of safety tests, repairs, and compliance certificates. Educating clients on proper gas appliance operation, maintenance practices, and safety precautions to enhance customer satisfaction and ensure user safety.

* Staying informed about industry developments, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to gas engineering through ongoing training, professional development, and certification programs.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

* Air Source Heat Pump (essential).

* C&G Level 2/3 plumbing (essential).

* Domestic Gas CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, MET1, CPA1 (essential).

* Experience in unvented hot water systems (essential).

* Gas Safe registration or equivalent certification/licensure as required by local regulations (desirable).

* Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues related to gas equipment and systems.

* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for professional interaction with clients and colleagues.

* Diligence in adhering to safety protocols and industry standards.

* Valid UK Driver’s Licence
