Gate Maker & Trade Counter Sales Assistant

Location: St Neots

Hours: Full-time, 7:30am-4:30pm.

Start Date: ASAP

Gate Manufacturing & Workshop Duties

Manufacture timber gates to a high standard, including standard and bespoke designs.
Accurately measure, cut, assemble and finish timber components.
Operate woodworking machinery and hand tools safely and efficiently.
Ensure all gates are manufactured to the company’s quality standards.
Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop.
Assist with stock management and material preparation.
Work efficiently to meet production targets and customer deadlines.
Trade Counter Sales & Customer Service

Serve trade and retail customers in a professional and friendly manner.
Provide advice on fencing products, timber gates, posts, panels, fixings and accessories.
Process customer orders, quotations and payments.
Build strong relationships with existing and new customers.
Skills & Experience Required

Ideally previous experience in carpentry, joinery, gate manufacturing or timber production is desirable.
Ideally confident using woodworking machinery and hand tools.
Good practical skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to work accurately from measurements.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Confident dealing with customers face-to-face and over the telephone.
Basic computer skills for processing orders and quotations.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Reliable, punctual and hardworking with a positive attitude.
Good understanding of workplace health and safety.
Experience within the fencing or timber industry would be a strong advantage.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their workmanship and can confidently switch between workshop production and customer-facing responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will be practical, organised and approachable. This is a Temporary to Permanent Position.
