General Foreman

Enable Resourcing are recruiting for an experienced General Foreman to join a leading civil engineering contractor delivering a £4m highways improvement scheme near Wells, Somerset.

The project involves the conversion of an existing junction into a new roundabout, including associated earthworks, drainage, highways infrastructure and traffic management works. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established contractor with a strong pipeline of work across the region.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Site Manager and Project Manager with the day-to-day delivery of the project, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, on programme and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

* Supervise and coordinate daily site operations.

* Manage operatives, subcontractors and plant resources.

* Ensure works are delivered safely in accordance with company procedures and industry regulations.

* Monitor progress against programme and assist in achieving project milestones.

* Maintain high standards of quality and workmanship across all activities.

* Ensure permits, site records, inspections and daily diaries are completed accurately.

* Support site management with planning, logistics and resource allocation.

* Promote a positive health, safety and environmental culture on site.

* Assist with customer and stakeholder engagement where required.

* Identify risks and opportunities and contribute to successful project delivery.

Requirements:

* Previous experience as a General Foreman within civil engineering or highways.

* Strong background delivering highways, infrastructure, groundworks or heavy civil engineering projects.

* Experience managing direct labour and subcontractors.

* Good understanding of drawings, specifications and construction methodology.

* Knowledge of NEC contracts would be advantageous.

* Strong leadership and communication skills.

* SMSTS.

* Valid CSCS Card.

* Full UK Driving Licence.
