Job Description - General Manager

CRE Marine's General Manager is responsible for its overall business operations, strategy, and development. This position takes full ownership of CRE Marine’s performance in terms of its health and productivity - including but not limited to revenue planning, sales management, operations, engineering and new product development, market analysis, organisation design and workforce development, operational excellence and facility improvements. As an empowered and capable leader of one of Trexon’s leading companies, this position drives CRE Marine towards higher levels of growth and profitability through innovation, expansion, performance, quality, and service.

Through a comprehensive understanding of CRE Marine's brand, customers, markets, and capabilities, this position creates a customer-first environment in which employees, workflows, systems and tools can be deployed to create sustainable growth and profitable value for shareholders through our engineered solutions and technical applications.

This passionate, dynamic, adaptable, strategic, and inspirational leader is motivated by continuous business improvements and expansion. They have interchangeable leadership skills in the areas of people, sales, and technical aptitude. This person is a prudent and ambitious manager with an intellectual curiosity and proven track record around new product and market development, and the organic growth that comes from it. They have a growth mindset and social influence around people, with an aptitude for change management in complex groups, as it relates to managing an operation, while integrating and evolving it.

Minimum Qualifications

This position is an onsite position (not remote) and requires at least twenty-five percent (25%) travel to visit customers and peer group companies.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree – or equivalent experience leading and growing a comparable business in the major markets that we serve. Post-graduate degree highly desirable, but not required.

Experience:

Ten (10) years of experience in a manufacturing organisation, cable assembly preferred – and at least seven (7) of which have been in a meaningful sales or engineering leadership position. Proven experience in developing profitable strategies and implementing vision. Experience presenting high level business performance and strategic initiatives to Corporate and/or Board leadership teams.

Knowledge:

Working knowledge of multi-faceted business processes and functions, including but not limited to finance, product development, manufacturing, procurement, and people/performance management.

Strong industry knowledge. Training will be provided on internal CRE Marine/Trexon processes and systems, as required for this position.

Skills:

Must have outstanding organisational and leadership skills, strong analytical ability, and problem-solving aptitude. Strong management skills and social influence including planning, resource organisation, team building, time management, emotional intelligence, change and conflict management, influencing and negotiation, endurance, a strategic mindset, and sound judgment. Ability to communicate and present ideas/data effectively internally and externally, including Corporate and company-level communication related to growth strategy and monthly business operations reviews.

Specific Position Duties

Strategic Planning
Develop vision and strategy – including budgets, initiatives, and plans for organic growth and expansion for the business into new markets or geographies – in-line with Trexon’s overall business and financial objectives.
Communicate, explain and operationalize strategies into actionable improvements and prioritised plans that can be managed to and executed on by teams and individual contributors in an empowering, collaborative and focused way.
Develop internal metrics to measure, track, isolate and diagnose areas of strength and improvements needed, that will allow the company to execute on its initiatives and meet its targets.
Identify opportunities (i.e. megatrends, market segments and applications) that can be leveraged and pursued to strengthen brand, performance and competitive advantage.
Participate in operations reviews, planning and strategy sessions with greater leadership and corporate teams.

Business Development
Generate ideas, define initiatives, and direct activities that improve the business as it relates to brand, competitive advantage and market position.
Identify reasonable and strategic opportunities for geographic or market expansion. Build and appraise strategic partnerships, onboard new customers, and penetrate new markets in a way that drives sustainable and quality revenues.
Create and elevate a channel-to-market organisation, and product development capabilities, that results in reaching target customers, revenue, and profitability metrics.
Actively monitor customer service and market trends to make necessary improvements and coach the team in continuously improving communication, processes, and relationships to elevate the customer journey and experience.

Product Development
Ensure that the company’s philosophies, values and market opportunities are central to the company’s product development processes and practices.
Lead and elevate the product development processes and teams through the established leadership structure, in a way that allows the teams to research and invent solutions, develop proposals, enhance existing products, and optimise the design process more effectively.
Oversee the frameworks and methodologies to assess the viability of new products, and the company’s ability to solve customer problems.

Operational Excellence
Diagnose and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Lead assessment of current practices and policies and identify opportunities to unburden workflows, increase profitability, remove obstacles, and drive action.
Drive standardisation in alignment with broader organisation goals, where appropriate, such as quality standards, documentation protocols, and performance metrics.
Develop systems thinking within the organisation, focusing on how different parts/functions are related and work together to create outcomes. Implement organisation design changes to improve outcomes.
Lead, manage and monitor production planning, purchasing, materials management, operations and quoting/pricing functions via ERP operating system.
Work with existing teams to modernise and improve manufacturing and overall operations, including but not limited to upgraded technology, updated facilities, better tooling and systems, automated processes, machinery investments, optimised and standardised workflows, and implementing LEAN principles.

Workforce Development
Plan, design, allocate, add, and shift resources as needed based on business priorities and objectives.
Energise and focus teams; develop a work environment, workplace and culture of high performance and innovation.
Develop an excellent team of strong and diverse leaders that can respond to opportunities, navigate challenges, and execute on business needs.
Architect sustainable, adaptable, and scalable teams that are resourced and able to be empowered.
Establish a human capital strategy that retains and develops top performers, including plans and programs to support the career development and sustainability of teams.
Create a framework for recruiting, hiring, and training employees to increase the skills/knowledge of employees and teams, adherence to compliance standards, and optimised business performance.
Set management standards, controls and practices that optimise the health and safety of the organisation and minimises risk.

Procurement Strategy
Develop and execute a comprehensive procurement strategy that ensures cost-effective and timely sourcing of high-quality materials.
Negotiate with key suppliers, manage vendor relationships, and implement best practices to streamline procurement processes.
Drive initiatives to enhance supply chain resilience and sustainability, while achieving optimal pricing and maintain strong supplier partnerships.
Oversee the management of working capital to enhance the financial health and operational efficiency of the organisation.
Maintain cost control, improving cash flow, supporting the long-term growth and profitability of the organisation.

Other responsibilities, initiatives and ad-hoc projects as required.
