Job Description - General Manager

Job Description Parkinson Lee Executive Search are currently retained partners to a leading global Engineering Group in the appointment of a General Manager – UK, based in Derbyshire.

Reporting into the Group Managing Director you will be responsible for leading and driving the UK team to deliver business performance to achieve budget and profit optimisation for this £15M turnover business, during a period of operational change.

With 5 direct reports across Engineering, Project Management, Procurement, Production, Small Business Works, and Installation and an indirect team of 70, delivering into a niche marketspace with a demanding customer base.

As the General Manager – UK, key areas will include:

Working with the UK Board, managing the full P&L, implementing corrective actions as necessary
Overseeing the newly created ‘Small Works/Aftermarket’ Business unit
Demonstrating thorough understanding of customer contracts and frameworks, signing of key customer commercials and handling customer escalations
Delivering projects on time, within/under budget, and to technical and commercial specification.
Ensure robust supply chain governance and auditing in place, to deliver defined cost savings and quality requirements
Working collaboratively with other Group business leaders / stakeholders, to support Group objectives.

Parkinson Lee Executive Search are keen to speak to business leaders with the following expertise:

A proven track record of P&L management of companies between £20M - £40M t/o within the Engineering Services Sector (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or associated industries),
Previous board experience, ideally experience of working in a group culture in an international environment
Exceptional team orientated leadership skills, with experience of process change and improvement
A high level of commercial and financial awareness
An understanding of NEC3 and JCT Contracting methodologies is preferred
A strong Project Manager, through full life cycle of projects exceeding £10m GBP including contract law
A robust and customer-focused leader, with excellent communication skills, able to liaise with all internal and external stakeholders to build strong ongoing relationships.
Understanding of HSE Regulations and CDM
