Exciting Opportunity for a General Manager of Fans and Heaters

Join our dynamic team at Howden Fans & Heaters, where you will play a pivotal role in managing the 'Tender to Order' and 'Order to Cash' processes for Engineered Projects within the European region. As a key contributor, you will ensure the timely delivery of products and services that meet customer specifications while optimizing tendered solutions and enhancing sold margins. Your expertise will be crucial in driving process improvements and efficiencies across the value stream using CBE tools and methodologies, ensuring excellence in project execution and timely cash collections. What will you do?

  • Maintain/ Establish a strong team and organisational structure aligned to the current AOP (Annual Operating Plan) and future business strategy including succession planning for all key roles .

  • Ownership for achieving HUK New Build AOP (Annual Operating Plan) for Booking s, Sales, Margin and Cash

  • Ensure there is a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly cycle of processes /meetings/briefings to support the focus upon and achievement of the business AOP and be prepared to act immediately to recover the situation if any areas are off track

  • Establish a winning team ethos and team spirit throughout the organization and that the whole team are clear upon the plan ahead and feel inspired to go above and beyond in achieving that

  • Monitor and maintain all processes and procedures to e nsure compliance and with all Chart/Howden company policies and e nsure adherence to company environmental, health and safety standards in compliance with company policies (Including risk management) to ensure a safe working environment and the minimisation of environmental impact there by maintain ing the required of HUK registrations (ISO9001, etc.)

What do you bring?

To be successful you must have …

  • Bac helors’ degree in Engineering with a substantial body of relevant project /commercial experience in an engineering organisation or MBA qualified with extensive technical experience in engineering organisations.

  • S trong integrity and l eadership skills and prepared to lead by example where necessary, but also able to delegate, empower and inspir e a multidisciplinary team.

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, to handle the challenges of operating in a variety of markets where Customer and Supplier cultures may differ from our own

  • Able to understand a set of company accounts and other financial report , and familiar with all the financial instruments such as Letters of Credit, Bank Guarantees, Fx Forward Contract, etc.

  • Strong commercial knowledge of working with international customer s . (Legal understanding, c ommercial ly astute , tough negotiat or and a track record of successfully claiming variations from ).

  • Good team player with s trong inter - personal skills and a p ragmatic no - nonsense approach.

It’s a bonus if you have...

  • Have either forma l qualification or extensive experience in using LEAN type continuous improvement

  • Ability to assess and understand risks and effective mitigations.

  • High level of self - motivation and results focused . Sets strong objectives for others.

  • Comprehensive k nowledge of Supply Chain processes, import/export (Incoterms and VAT) both in theory and practice.

  • Able to solve issues at granular level and equally visualise the implications of issues strateg ically .
