Job Description - General Manager Logistics

A leading logistics company are looking for a General Manager to be based in Aberdeen to manage their Oil&Gas sector. This is an exciting opportunity offering excellent career prospects.

Your responsibilities as General Manager will include the following:
Accountability and responsible for all commercial and operational activities taking place in the Aberdeen office, including but not limited to its employees and customers.
They will drive business development with the aim of increasing profitability and revenue, focusing on customer service and solutions, that will support the Station’s and UK’s strategic plan.

•Act as Key decision maker for the Aberdeen branch.
•Develop, implement and manage the branch’s strategic plan in line with the overall strategic agenda of the UK and European business.
• Full accountability and responsibility for branch’s commercial and operational performance.
• Work with local and global commercial teams to develop new business, and nurture and grow existing customer base.
• Act as face of the business in Aberdeen and within the oil and gas sector.
• Capitalise on external and internal network to drive financial performance of the branch, collaborating and developing strong professional relationships.
• Collate monthly, quarterly and annual reports on P&L, pipeline development and overall operational performance.
• Manage all operational flows to maintain efficiency and effective operational output across all products.
• Implement, manage and drive an effective team structure to efficiently support key deliverables and station performance.
•Manage team performance providing clear targets, coaching, development and feedback to drive efficiencies and professional growth for team members.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience
• Minimum 5 years working in a senior role within a similar industry/organisation.
• Experience leading and managing large sales portfolios, pipelines, and client base.
• Excellent working knowledge of the oil and gas industry.
• Prior, proven experience of leading operations in a B2B (business to business) and B2C (business to consumer) ecommerce, freight & logistics sector and oil & gas sector.
• Proven experience of managing own P&L.
• Proven Sales and Business Win achievements.
• Record of successful distribution and logistics management.
• Demonstrable ability to lead and manage staff.
• Proficient in standard freight software (Cargowise).
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects.
• Tenacity and drive to seek new business and meet or exceed targets.
• An excellent telephone manner for making initial contact and for ongoing communication with customers and business associates.
• Interpersonal skills for building and developing relationships.
• Written and verbal communication skills - needed for communicating with a range of people, both internally and externally, as well as presentation skills.
• IT skills - Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills • Excellent project management skills and strong ability to prioritize
• Project management and organisational skills.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the postholder may be required to perform other duties assigned by the Vice President/CEO from time to time. Subject to adequate experience and/or training. 2. To participate in the annual performance appraisal and objective setting scheme. 3. To work in accordance with all company policies including Health and Safety, Employment, Staff, Quality and Environmental. 4.
