General Manager – Transport & Warehouse

Location: Nottinghamshire (NG17)
Salary: £50,000–£60,000 per annum, dependent on experience

Our client is looking for an ambitious, commercially minded General Manager to take ownership of their transport and warehouse operations and drive the business forward.

This is not a role for someone who simply manages from a desk.

They need a strong operational leader who can take control, lead people, improve performance and deliver measurable results. You’ll be responsible for ensuring transport and warehouse operations run safely, efficiently and profitably, while maintaining the high levels of service their customers expect.

The Role

As General Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day performance of the transport and warehouse operations, leading the existing operational teams and creating a culture of accountability, efficiency and continuous improvement.

You will:

* Lead, motivate and develop transport and warehouse teams.

* Take ownership of operational performance, KPIs and service levels.

* Drive improvements in productivity, efficiency and cost control.

* Ensure transport operations are compliant, safe and commercially effective.

* Optimise fleet utilisation, driver performance, scheduling and delivery performance.

* Oversee warehouse operations, stock accuracy, picking, loading and goods-in/goods-out.

* Identify operational problems and implement practical solutions quickly.

* Build clear processes, standards and accountability across the operation.

* Monitor performance data and turn it into action.

* Work closely with customers and internal teams to ensure service expectations are consistently exceeded.

* Manage operational costs and identify opportunities to improve margins.

* Develop a strong, accountable management culture where people know what is expected of them.

* Support the continued growth and development of the business.

You'll ideally have significant management experience within transport, logistics, warehousing, distribution or a similar operational environment, with a proven track record of improving performance.
