We are looking for a commercially driven and customer-focused Generator Sales Engineer to develop new business opportunities, build strong client relationships and drive sales growth within the standby power industry. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded sales professional to combine engineering knowledge with business development, selling generator systems and turnkey power solutions to consultants, contractors and end clients. Key Responsibilities Identify and develop new business opportunities, generating leads and securing new customers. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients. Arrange client meetings, conduct site visits and prepare quotations. Prepare and present technical sales proposals, specifications and solutions. Interpret technical drawings, specifications and schematics. Provide technical advice, respond to customer enquiries and support after-sales requirements. Identify opportunities for additional sales and develop long-term customer relationships. Keep up to date with industry trends, products and technical developments. Monitor sales performance, present sales data and work towards individual and company sales targets. Work closely with internal teams to ensure excellent customer service and successful project delivery. Skills & Experience Required At least 3 years' experience in sales, technical sales or business development. Experience selling industrial service contracts across commercial, industrial, residential or healthcare sectors. Previous experience in diesel generator sales or the standby power industry would be highly advantageous. A technical engineering qualification is essential, ideally at degree level, or equivalent relevant industry experience. Strong commercial awareness and proven business development skills. Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills. Confident communicating with customers face-to-face, over the telephone and via email. Ability to manage multiple opportunities and work independently with minimal supervision. Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office. Full, clean UK driving licence. Salary & Benefits £50,000–£55,000 basic salary, depending on experience. Sales bonus scheme. 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays. Company pension scheme. The Ideal Candidate You will be a proactive and commercially minded individual with strong technical knowledge, excellent customer service skills and the ability to identify opportunities and convert them into sales. You will be confident developing client relationships and motivated to achieve and exceed sales targets.
