Salary: £75,000 - £80,000

A strategic leadership opportunity with one of the UK's leading ground engineering consultancies has become available in Northampton. This senior leadership role offers the chance to take a lead on a wide range of geotechnical projects across the UK, working with clients spanning house builders, utilities, local authorities, land agents and private developers.

The Geotechnical Director role will involve:

• Leading complex geotechnical projects from concept to delivery
• Managing project budgets, timelines, quality, and client expectations
• Liaising with clients.
• Supporting business development, proposals, and strategic growth initiatives
• Mentoring junior and mid-level engineers.

• Providing expert support to ground investigation teams across projects
• Providing high-level technical guidance and oversight on:
  • Slope stability and retaining structures
  • Earthworks and ground improvement
  • Basement Impact Assessments (BIA)
  • HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) design
  • Geotechnical risk management (GMA, GIR, GDR)

To be considered for this Geotechnical Director you must have:

• Degree-qualified in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering.
• Be chartered or working towards it.
• Significant experience in geotechnical consultancy
• Strong track record of project leadership, client engagement, and technical delivery
• Confident in managing multidisciplinary teams and providing mentoring
• Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal

The Geotechnical Director selected will be offered:

• Starting salary from £75,000+ (negotiable depending on experience)
