Role Description
This is a full‑time position for a Geotechnical Engineer or Engineering Geologist. The organisation supports hybrid working arrangements; however, staff are expected to attend the Leeds office at least three days per week. The successful candidate will contribute to the Geotechnics and Tunnelling team and will have opportunities to work on high‑profile projects in the UK, Ireland, and internationally. Alongside technical delivery, the role includes supporting junior colleagues and assisting Project Managers with programme and budget management.
Essential Requirements
Actively working towards Chartership with a relevant professional body Strong academic background with a relevant geotechnical or engineering geology degree (MSc, MEng, or equivalent preferred) Demonstrable experience delivering technical project tasks Experience using geotechnical software (e.g., Rocscience, PLAXIS, or similar) Exposure to geotechnical design for civil infrastructure (embankments, cuttings, shallow/deep foundations) Excellent report writing and communication skills Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams Experience in ground investigation specification and management, ground model development, and soil/rock parameter derivation Familiarity with geological software such as OpenGround, QGIS, or ArcGIS Understanding of CDM Regulations (2015)
Desirable Requirements
Experience on major linear infrastructure projects (highways or rail) Experience in water infrastructure projects Experience managing or assisting with budgets and programmes Experience liaising with clients and contractors Experience with construction site support or supervision Interest in supporting the development of junior staff Experience with hydrogeological or geo‑environmental assessments (advantageous but not essential) Willingness to undertake occasional travel Only candidates based in UK and eligible to work in UK are allowed
