Gl Accounting Manager

Marc Daniels are working with a growing and well-established business who are looking to recruit a GL Accounting Manager to join their finance team. This is a key leadership role, responsible for managing the General Ledger function, driving process improvements, and ensuring an efficient and controlled month-end close process.

Responsibilities

Lead, develop and manage a high-performing General Ledger team of approximately 8 finance professionals.
Oversee all General Ledger activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with accounting standards.
Take ownership of the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting across the business.
Identify, implement and drive process improvement initiatives to streamline accounting operations and enhance financial controls.
Optimise and continuously improve month-end procedures, reducing close timelines and increasing reporting efficiency.
Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
Ensure robust financial controls are maintained and adhered to across the team.
Partner with key stakeholders across Finance and the wider business to improve processes and reporting outputs.
Support statutory audit requirements and act as a key point of contact for external auditors.
Monitor team performance, providing coaching, development and succession planning.
Drive standardisation, automation and best practice across General Ledger processes.
Assist with projects relating to systems enhancements, finance transformation and process optimisation.Essential Experience

Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
Proven experience managing a sizeable finance team, ideally 8 or more direct reports.
Strong General Ledger accounting background within a medium to large organisation.
Demonstrable experience leading process improvement and finance transformation initiatives.
Track record of optimising and improving month-end close processes.
Strong understanding of financial controls, balance sheet reconciliations and financial reporting.
Experience working within complex ERP systems.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
