This summer, Immerse has partnered with The Good Future Foundation to create its first fully cross-sector, AI-focused programme. With their expertise in equipping young people and educators to responsibly use AI tools, and our experience delivering exceptional in-person academic summer schools, we're uniquely positioned to make this programme the gold standard for preparing future-ready students and educators.
ROLE BACKGROUND
The pastoral care provided by Immerse is what sets us apart as an industry-leading summer school provider and is an element of the programmes that we value highly and take very seriously.
We are looking for outgoing, friendly and responsible individuals to make a small team across two pastoral Mentor roles: Activity Instructor and Houseparent. In either role, you will live on campus and be responsible for ensuring that the individuals in your ‘mentor family’ are settling into the programme and making the most of the opportunities that the programme affords them.
Whether focused on activities or houseparent duties, Mentors should aim to create a ‘home away from home’ and act as both a responsible adult and as a mentor to the participant throughout their time on the programme. As the first and foremost point of contact for the participants in your ‘mentor family’ you are the main pastoral care provider and report to the College Manager within your assigned college.
Mentors are a team of university undergraduate students who have been selected to supervise programme participants, to lead extracurricular activities and to organise evening social events. Mentors are also assigned groups approximately 10 participants, and they are responsible for ensuring the well-being of these students for the duration of the programme.
Mentors stay on-site in the colleges and as such, work schedules can vary extensively throughout the duration of the contract. Rotas and working hours are scheduled by College Managers at the beginning of session.
This is a highly challenging and rewarding position and mentors find the more they put into the programme, the more they get back.

ACTIVITY INSTRUCTOR
Activity Instructors will be primarily responsible for leading activities, both sports and creative, and excursions. They will lead all social and cultural elements of the programme, ensuring sessions are safe and well organised. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys planning and delivering exceptional activities, with an eye for detail and an engaging, thoughtful approach to activities. A great Activity Instructor needs a mix of energy, leadership, and adaptability to engage and inspire participants.
HOUSEPARENT
Our Houseparents key focus will be the pastoral care and well-being of students outside of activity hours. They ensure students are safe, comfortable, and supported in their residential accommodation, managing issues like homesickness, behaviour, and welfare. A great Houseparent will creates a safe, supportive, and welcoming home environment for students. Their role goes beyond supervision, they provide emotional support, structure, and a sense of community.
