We're looking for a proactive Goods Inwards Inspector to join our engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail who takes pride in ensuring only high-quality materials enter production.
As a key member of the business, you'll be responsible for inspecting and verifying all incoming goods, materials and components, ensuring they meet required specifications, quality standards and certification requirements before they are released into production. Working closely with the Stores team and wider engineering departments, you'll play a vital role in maintaining full traceability and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Documentation Verification: Checking delivery notes, certificates of conformity (CofC), and material certificates against purchase orders.
* Physical Inspection: Measuring components using specialized equipment, evaluating surface finishes, and reviewing assembly drawings.
* Defect Management: Identifying and segregating faulty or damaged items and generating non-conformance reports (NCR).
* Stock Tracking: Booking compliant parts into the warehouse or ERP system to ensure traceability.
* Internal Collaboration: work closely with Stores, Production and Engineering teams to ensure smooth flow of materials
* Supplier Site Visit: occasional travel to suppliers to carry out pre-delivery material inspections
What We're Looking For
* Previous experience inspecting goods and materials within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
* The ability to build strong working relationships with internal departments and external suppliers.
* A good understanding of engineering drawings, fabrication, welding and assembly processes.
* Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel, with experience of stock control software advantageous.
* Willingness to travel occasionally to supplier sites for inspections.
* A proactive, self-motivated individual who can work independently, take ownership of tasks and demonstrate a positive, can-do attitude.
