Help shape the infrastructure powering the UK’s future. At Morson Praxis, we’re the technical consultancy that actually delivers what it designs, combining engineering expertise with digital innovation to deliver practical solutions for some of the UK’s most important energy infrastructure projects.
As our Power business continues to grow, we’re looking for a Graduate 3D Modeller to join our Primary Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career to develop specialist 3D modelling and BIM skills while helping us expand our in-house digital design capability.
If you have an interest in 3D design, some experience with Revit and want to build your career working alongside experienced engineers on real-world power projects, we’d love to hear from you.
We’re looking for a Graduate 3D Modeller to help develop our 3D design capability within our Power Primary team.
Working alongside our Primary Engineers and wider multidisciplinary project teams, you’ll support the creation and development of accurate 3D models and technical design information for electrical infrastructure projects.
You’ll receive support from experienced colleagues while developing your understanding of power engineering, BIM and digital design. As your knowledge grows, you’ll have the opportunity to take greater ownership of models and contribute to how we develop and embed 3D modelling across the team.
Who We Are
At Morson Praxis, we combine engineering expertise with digital innovation to deliver complex technical solutions across energy, infrastructure, aerospace, defence and industrial sectors.
As part of the wider Morson Group, we offer the agility of a specialist engineering consultancy with the strength and stability of one of the UK’s leading technical organisations.
Our Power teams support the design and delivery of critical electrical infrastructure, from substations and network upgrades to major energy projects. Within our Primary team, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers and designers to develop the physical layouts and designs that bring these projects to life.
What You’ll Do
As a Graduate 3D Modeller, you’ll develop your technical skills while supporting the delivery of our Power projects, including:
* Creating and developing accurate 3D models for electrical infrastructure and substation projects
* Supporting the development of 3D models using Revit and other relevant design software
* Producing drawings and design information from coordinated 3D models
* Working alongside Primary Engineers to translate engineering requirements into clear and accurate models
* Supporting the development of equipment layouts, arrangements and associated design information
* Updating models throughout the project lifecycle to reflect design development and engineering changes
* Assisting with model coordination and identifying potential clashes or design issues
* Working collaboratively with civil, structural, electrical and other engineering disciplines
* Supporting the development of BIM and 3D modelling standards, templates and processes within the Power team
* Maintaining accurate design records and ensuring models and drawings meet project and company standards
* Developing your understanding of substations, electrical infrastructure and Primary Engineering
* Participating in design reviews and project meetings as your experience develops
* Taking an active role in your own technical and professional development
What We’re Looking For
Essential
* Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline such as Engineering, BIM, Architectural Technology, Digital Engineering, CAD Design or a related subject
* An interest in developing a career in 3D modelling and engineering design
* Good spatial awareness and ability to interpret technical information
* Due to the nature and remote location of our client sites, a full driving licence is essential.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work
* Good IT and digital skills with the confidence to learn new engineering software
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Proactive approach to learning and problem-solving
* Ability to manage your workload and work to project deadlines
Desirable
* Some experience using Autodesk Revit, whether through university, placement experience or previous employment
* Exposure to AutoCAD or other CAD/3D modelling packages
* An understanding of BIM principles and coordinated digital design
* Previous placement, internship or project experience within engineering, utilities, construction or infrastructure
* An interest in the power and energy sector, particularly substations and electrical infrastructure
You don’t need to arrive knowing everything about power engineering. We’re looking for someone with the right technical foundations, an interest in 3D design and the curiosity to learn from the experienced engineers around them.
