Are you an Environmental Graduate or early-career Environmental Advisor looking to build your career within a process-driven manufacturing environment?
Escape Recruitment is working with an established manufacturing business in East Kilbride to recruit an Environmental Graduate or Junior Environmental Advisor to join its Safety, Health and Environmental team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Health or a related discipline who wants to gain practical experience within a busy, operational environment.
We're particularly interested in individuals who have gained experience through a graduate placement, internship, industrial placement or early-career role within manufacturing, process industries, engineering, chemicals, construction or other regulated environments.
You'll be joining a supportive team where you can develop your technical knowledge, take ownership of projects and build your experience across environmental compliance, operational safety and continuous improvement.
The Role
Working closely with an experienced SHE Manager, you'll support the development, implementation and ongoing improvement of environmental, health and safety systems across the business.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting compliance activities, inspections and internal audits.
Assisting with risk assessments and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Maintaining SHE documentation, records and reporting systems.
Monitoring corrective actions and ensuring agreed improvements are completed.
Supporting incident investigations, root cause analysis and preventative actions.
Assisting with performance monitoring, KPI reporting and compliance records.
Working with operational teams to promote awareness and safe working practices.
Supporting the development and improvement of management systems, procedures and training.
Contributing to wider environmental, health and safety projects across company COMAH sites.
What We're Looking For
We're interested in hearing from candidates who have:
A degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Health or a closely related discipline.
An understanding of environmental legislation, compliance requirements and environmental management principles.
An interest in working within a manufacturing, process or industrial environment.
Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage tasks through to completion.
Good communication skills and confidence engaging with employees across different departments.
Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word and reporting systems.
A proactive approach, willingness to learn and the confidence to take responsibility for their work.
A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally to other company sites.
Particularly Relevant Experience
Any exposure to the following would be advantageous, although we don't expect graduates to have experience in every area:
ISO 14001 or environmental management systems.
Environmental audits and compliance inspections.
Waste management, pollution prevention or environmental monitoring.
Chemical handling, hazardous substances or process safety.
Manufacturing, production, engineering or other operational environments.
Environmental risk assessments and incident investigations.
Environmental reporting, data analysis and continuous improvement.
A NEBOSH qualification is not essential. The business is open to candidates from an environmental background who are interested in developing their wider occupational health and safety knowledge.
What's on Offer?
Competitive salary, depending on qualifications and experience.
25 days' annual leave plus 9 public holidays.
Employer pension contribution of 7%.
Life assurance at four times annual salary.
Health Shield healthcare benefits.
Employee Assistance Programme.
Potential annual bonus.
Support for professional development and further qualifications.
The opportunity to gain experience within a complex, process-driven operational environment.
The position is primarily site-based in East Kilbride, with occasional travel to other company locations. The business offers practical flexibility around working arrangements where operational requirements allow.
