Helping pupils access classroom learning through adapted activities and structured teaching approaches. Encouraging positive behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement with learning. Using visual supports and appropriate strategies to help children understand routines and transitions. Supporting pupils to develop independence, confidence and positive relationships with peers. Observing children's responses to different approaches and working with teachers to adapt support accordingly. Collaborating with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team to support individual learning targets. The Ideal CandidateThe school is particularly interested in candidates who have a genuine interest in autism, psychology and understanding human behaviour. You should ideally have:
A degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Sciences, Criminology or a related subject; relevant experience and transferable skills may also be considered. Experience working with children through schools, youth work, tutoring, mentoring, volunteering or care settings. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. A patient, empathetic and resilient approach to supporting children with diverse needs. The ability to work collaboratively as part of a supportive school team.
