Job Description - Graduate Structural Engineer

Bennett and game are representing an opportunity for a Graduate or Junior Structural Engineer to join a respected civil and structural engineering consultancy delivering a wide variety of building projects in Cardiff. As a Structural Engineer, you will gain hands-on experience across residential, commercial, mixed-use and heritage schemes, working from surveys and feasibility through to detailed design and construction support.

You will be mentored by Chartered Engineers and supported toward professional membership. The role blends structural calculations, BIM modelling, report writing and site experience, giving you a solid foundation in the design and analysis of building structures.

Graduate Structural Engineer Job Overview
  • Assist with design calculations for steel, RC, timber and masonry structures to Eurocodes
  • Prepare drawings, models and schedules using AutoCAD and Revit
  • Support structural surveys, condition assessments and concise technical reporting
  • Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers and contractors to resolve design and buildability issues
  • Contribute to projects ranging from new builds and refurbishments to restorations and mixed-use developments
  • Attend site inspections, review construction queries and support temporary works solutions
Graduate Structural Engineer Job Requirements
  • BEng/MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • A masters degree or a year worth of consultancy experience is preferable
  • Understanding of structural principles, materials and design codes
  • Familiarity with structural analysis/design software (e.g. Tedds, Tekla Structural Designer, Robot, Revit).
  • Strong attention to detail with clear written and verbal communication
  • Organised and proactive, able to support multiple projects
  • Commitment to working toward IStructE or ICE professional membership
  • Full UK driving licence desirable for site visits
Graduate Structural Engineer Salary & Benefits
  • Salary: £25,000 - £33,000 - Depending on experience levels.
