Duchess & Alleycat are looking for an experienced print & packaging designer to work as part of our fast-growing team in Glasgow.

A leading print & packaging company that specialise in the hospitality & drinks sector, Duchess & Alleycat offers an exciting and varied workload.

With a diverse and renowned client base, ranging from International brands such as Jumeirah Hotel Group, Sexy Fish, Johnnie Walker, The Standard Hotels, The Ivy Restaurants and Tanqueray, to smaller British start-ups & independents, such as Paesano, Eusebi Deli and Six by Nico - no two days are the same.

Reporting directly to the Head of Design, this is a fast-paced and hands-on role.

We are looking for someone highly motivated & organised, with great initiative and a can-do attitude.

The right candidate will need to be dynamic and able to work well under pressure. You’ll be involved across multiple projects at once, so must have the ability to independently complete smaller projects [from initial concept brief, to final print-ready artwork], as well as, work well as part of a team, on larger projects & deadlines.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
A degree in Graphic Design or similar creative discipline.
Proven experience working as a Graphic Designer across both print & packaging projects, ideally 2-4 years of experience.
Excellent attention to detail. [This is very important!]
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of print specs & production: ie. PMS references & how they differ on coated/uncoated stocks and between digital and litho print etc.
A high level of competency in the latest Adobe Creative Suite is essential, in particular using Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
A high level of competence in Microsoft Office software – PowerPoint, Word, Excel etc.
Highly creative with the ability to demonstrate excellent layout, typography, and art direction skills.
Experience in the design of structural packaging for consumer products and creating effective cutter guides for cardboard packaging ie boxes/ bags etc.
The ability to carry out high-quality re-touching of photography.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and artwork of 2D print assets across a range of items, from business cards & stationery, to restaurant menus, seasonal brochures, and promotional materials.
Create eye-catching packaging design that raises the brand profile and engages with the consumers whilst abiding by client brand guidelines.
Present all designs clearly & attractively in presentation documents, using in-house templates and clients' brand guidelines.
Undertake art direction on photoshoots for packaging imagery and carry out high-quality retouching of images as required.
Liaising with clients and our internal production team, to carry out on-going design edits and finalise print ready files for both 2D print & packaging jobs.
Supporting the Head of Design and other senior staff members in ad hoc formatting or administrative tasks.
Keeping an up-to-date daily timesheet on Toggl task tracker

DEADLINES:
We are looking to fill this role ASAP, and so are keen to receive all applications by

4pm Monday 17th June.

Candidates will be asked to attend an initial Zoom interview the following week

[W/C 17th June]

and sent x2 small mock design briefs, to complete by

24th June.

[To assess their understanding of classic print specs and cutter artwork application].

Upon successful completion of the above, a face-to-face interview will also be conducted at our head office,

W/C 24th June.

Applicants would ideally be available to start on the

24th July 2024

, however, this can be slightly flexible depending upon the candidate's notice period.
