Are you an experienced Greenspace, Landscape, Estate or Countryside Management professional looking for an opportunity to take ownership of technically interesting environmental projects across the South of England?

English Estates, part of Indevor Group, is looking for a Greenspace Project Manager to join our growing Environment & Biodiversity Team.

This is a varied, hands-on role combining project management, technical inspection, contractor management and environmental delivery. You’ll be involved from initial site assessment through capital works, handover and aftercare, helping ensure our greenspaces are delivered to the highest possible standards.

The role would particularly suit someone with practical experience across landscape management, estate management, grounds maintenance, countryside management or environmental project delivery who is comfortable being out on site and taking ownership of projects.

The Role

As Greenspace Project Manager, you’ll support the delivery of a growing portfolio of environmental and countryside projects, including:

Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspaces (SANGs)

Country parks

Nature reserves

Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) projects

Landscape and environmental improvement schemes

You’ll provide technical oversight throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring sites are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with agreed designs, specifications and environmental objectives.

You’ll also play a key role in the transition from capital delivery into long-term estate management, making sure projects are technically and operationally ready before they are accepted into management.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Project Support

Support initial site visits and assessments for prospective projects.

*

Provide technical input into project feasibility and delivery.

*

Contribute to project cost models and technical recommendations.

*

Undertake and review project risk assessments.

*

Review detailed landscape designs and management plans.

*

Develop and maintain standardised project specifications.

Capital Works & Site Inspections

Review contracts, warranties and project documentation relating to hard and soft landscaping works.

Monitor projects against specifications, drawings, quality standards and environmental objectives.

Carry out regular site inspections during capital works.

Monitor the quality of hard and soft landscaping.

Identify defects, incomplete works and areas requiring remediation.

Specify remedial works and ensure issues are resolved before project sign-off.

Project Handover & Aftercare

Coordinate the handover of completed sites.

Ensure contractual, technical and operational requirements are satisfied before acceptance.

Verify maintenance plans, warranties, asset information and compliance documentation.

Identify and monitor defects and outstanding works.

Manage the transition from capital delivery into operational estate management.

Appoint and manage maintenance contractors during the initial aftercare period.

Monitor contractor quality, performance and value for money.

Manage aftercare budgets.

Maintain accurate handover, asset and warranty records.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

Work closely with colleagues across English Estates and the wider Indevor Group.

Build strong relationships with contractors, consultants, clients and external stakeholders.

*

Promote consistent technical standards across projects.

*

Identify opportunities to improve specifications, processes and project delivery.

*

Support the continued growth of English Estates and its environmental portfolio.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone with strong practical and technical knowledge who is comfortable taking responsibility for projects and making informed decisions on site.

Ideally, you’ll have:

5+ years’ practical experience within landscape, estate, environmental or countryside management.

*

Experience managing landscape, environmental, grounds maintenance or similar projects.

*

Strong contractor management experience.

*

Experience of contract administration, cost control and quality assurance.

*

The ability to inspect works and confidently identify defects or quality issues.

*

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

*

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

*

A practical and solutions-focused approach.

*

Strong commercial awareness.

*

A full UK driving licence.

Membership of a relevant professional body such as the Chartered Institute of Horticulture, Landscape Institute or CIEEM would be advantageous.

Desirable Experience

Experience or knowledge of any of the following would also be beneficial:

Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG)

Ecology and biodiversity

Planning processes

GIS systems such as QGIS or ArcGIS

Landscape design and management plans

Hard and soft landscaping

Grounds maintenance

Environmental compliance

Countryside or estate management

Project handover and aftercare

Location & Travel

The position is based around Bristol and will primarily cover projects throughout the South and South West of England.

Current project locations include Devon, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Surrey, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Sussex, Essex and Wiltshire.

As a result, regular site travel is an important part of the position, with occasional travel outside these areas when required.
