Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

  • Drive, Operate and Maintain OTMs safely, professionally, competently & compliant with all aspects of your duties
  • To be competent in Grinder maintenance, repairs & fault finding
  • Maximise machine availability
  • To effectively deliver operational training of the company
  • To ensure all training developed is in line with the HRL Competency Management System.
  • To undertake Competency Assessments to assist Assessors in the compliance with the Harsco Rail Competence Standards
  • To support the Company in being at the forefront of training innovation and becoming recognised as an industry leader and purveyor of training best practice

KEY RESULT AREAS

  • Undertake duties in line with agreed roster
  • Maintain competency in line with role requirement
  • Maintain agreed route card using the equipment provided and learn new routes as directed by your Line Manager
  • Performance of machine following the completion of maintenance tasks
  • When undertaking machine-based duties you are responsible for the overall machine condition including documentation, tooling, spare parts, consumables, safety equipment, waste disposal and your PPE
  • Compliance with all company policies & procedures, including Health & Safety, Quality & Environmental
  • Utilise IT equipment provided to update and access Apps and Programs associate with your role (Rule Book, FAMS, Q-Pulse, AARK etc)
  • Internal and External Verification results.
  • Compliance with the Competence Management System
  • Deliverance of Training Courses according to the Training Plan
  • Customer Satisfaction indicators – course evaluation forms

Qualifications & Experience

  • Professional qualifications needed to enable key activities to be achieved
  • Fully qualified driver operator maintainer
  • Track safety qualification
  • PTS
  • DP
  • Mandatory qualifications
  • Any other H&S requirements as identified for the role
  • Drivers Rules + Regulations
  • Knowledge and experience of Machinery - Grinder – other OTMs
  • Assessor & Verifier qualifications
  • Drivers Medical and EDL (where required for role)

  • IT skills including Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe, Document Control System (Q-Pulse)

Additional Information

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Work with Line Manager to maximise machine availability and reliability
  • Undertake training and gain new competency as directed by your Line Manager
  • Engage with your Line Manager to identify and implement continuous improvement activities
  • Maintain regular contact with Control Centre
  • To ensure company vehicle is kept to required standards as per HR/ADV/H/G/004
  • Attending meetings as required by Line Manager
  • Provide reports and information as requested by Line Manager
  • Liaise with internal departments, the customer, other NWR departments and 3rd party contractors as required
  • Flexible to work on other machines as directed by your Line Manager
  • Travel and lodge in line with role requirements and as directed by Line Manager
  • Report accidents, incidents, and problems to Control and your Line Manager in a timely manner.
  • To liaise with and respond to requests from Operations/Driver Standards Manager Develop and deliver appropriate training programmes in accordance with the requirements of the training plan and in compliance with company, client, and legislative requirements.
  • Maintain own occupational competencies in order to Train & Assess staff as required.
  •  To undertake any development training as required.
  •  To undertake regular progress meetings with the training team
  •  To ensure training competences are maintained and developed
  •  To ensure all records of training are up to date
  •  To work with managers on providing the best training to suit the needs of their teams
  •  To assist and ensure compliance with any audits
  •  To attend internal and external meetings as required.
  •  To comply with all Statutory and Company Policies and Procedures.
  •  To assist in the review of policies and procedures.
  •  To carry out briefing sessions with Staff as required

HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by your acts and omissions at work
  • Contribute to the delivery of company occupational health and welfare, safety and environmental improvement plans, and brief staff as required
  • Only undertake work for which you have been trained and (if required) certified competent
  • To comply with and update as requested, Risk Assessments, Method Statements and Safe Systems of Work
  • Maintain and utilise all PPE provided by the employer
  • Co-operate with your employer on health, safety, and environment
  • Make safe any unsafe conditions where practicable and challenge unsafe work practices
  • Inform your Line Manager or Health and Safety representative of any unsafe occurrences
  • Report and assist when requested, with the investigations of accidents, incidents and near misses
