to be recruiting experienced Equine Grooms for an exceptional opportunity within a high-security equestrian
environment.

This is a varied hands-on role
combining daily horse care, exercise, schooling, grooming, preparation and
support with veterinary and farriery requirements.

You will work as part of an
experienced equestrian team, helping to maintain the health, welfare, fitness
and presentation of a diverse population of horses.

About
the Horses

The role will involve working
with a varied population of high-quality horses, including:

• Irish Draughts and Sport Horses, generally ranging from approximately 15.1hh to
  17.3hh.
  
• Larger
  traditional breeds including Shires and Clydesdales.
  
• Young and
  developing horses at various stages of training.
  
• Horses
  requiring rehabilitation, bespoke training and behavioural development.
  

The
Role

Key
Responsibilities

• Provide
  daily husbandry and welfare care.
  
• Ride,
  exercise, school and lunge horses as required.
  
• Groom,
  bathe, clip, trim and pull manes and tails.
  
• Prepare
  feeds and haynets for distribution.
  
• Assist with
  veterinary and farriery inspections and treatments.
  
• Support the
  care and development of young and inexperienced horses.
  
• Assist with
  behavioural and bespoke training programmes.
  
• Ensure tack
  and equine equipment is clean, safe and serviceable.
  
• Report
  damaged or worn equipment.
  
• Prepare
  horses for road transport and undertake travelling groom duties when required.
  
• Assist with
  tacking up for routine exercise and formal operations.
  
• Assist with
  preparing horses for specialist work and presentation.
  
• Apply
  appropriate rugs and bandages.
  
• Maintain
  excellent standards of cleanliness and presentation across stable areas.
  
• Liaise with
  other equestrian professionals as part of the wider team.
  
• Participate
  in emergency drills.
  
• Provide
  additional support during periods of increased activity, staff absence and
  major horse movements.
  
• Work
  essential overtime where requested and formally approved.
  
  

Working
Environment

This role is based within a high-security site,
and successful candidates will be required to comply with all relevant security
procedures, site rules and operational protocols.

A background check will be
required as part of the recruitment process.

Working
Pattern

Core working hours are 07:00–15:30, Monday to
Friday.

Horse exercise should generally
be completed before 12:00, with ground-based work such as lunging and walking
in hand completed by 14:00, unless under veterinary advice.

There will also be a rotational
requirement for one member of the team to work an extended shift until
approximately 17:00 to support evening preparation.

Weekend days may be required
depending on operational requirements.

Requirements

We are looking for experienced
equestrian professionals with:

• Previous
  professional experience working with horses.
  
• Strong
  practical horse handling skills.
  
• Confidence
  riding and exercising horses.
  
• Experience
  with grooming, clipping, bathing and general horse preparation.
  
• A good
  understanding of horse welfare and stable management.
  
• A calm and
  methodical approach to working with horses.
  
• Excellent
  attention to detail.
  
• Strong
  teamwork and communication skills.
  
• A reliable
  and flexible approach.
  
• The ability
  to work within a structured and professional environment.
  
• ​Experience
  with young horses, larger horses, competition horses or horses within a
  professional structured environment would be advantageous.
  
  

Benefits

• Salary: £27,000 
  
• Annual Leave: 25 days’ annual leave per annum, with additional time off provided where bank holiday duties are worked, in line with the rota and operational requirements.
