Ground Worker – Starting from £29,000 per annum + benefits – Uckfield, East Sussex TN22

The Role

Do you have experience in civil groundwork and operating plant machinery? Are you confident working outdoors as part of a skilled, hands-on team?

Moody Sewage is looking for a Ground Worker to support our installation team Uckfield. You’ll help deliver a range of tasks from digging and concrete works to pipe installation and site set-up. Working closely with the Installation team leader, you’ll play a key role in keeping each job safe, efficient and completed to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with excavations (machine and hand-dig), pipe laying and concrete works.
• Operate small plant machinery (e.g., diggers, compactors, mixers).
• Support basic electrical and mechanical tasks under guidance.
• Handle sewage and water systems with safety and care.
• Maintain tools, equipment and vehicles in good condition.
• Follow site health and safety procedures at all times.
• Join toolbox talks and briefings, raising any risks you notice.
• Wear correct PPE and represent the company in a professional manner.

The Person

• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather.
• Holds a valid UK driving licence.
• CSCS card (or willing to obtain).
• Familiar with groundwork, concreting and pipe installation.
• Confident using light plant equipment.
• A good team player with a careful and steady approach.
• Strong attention to detail and takes pride in good workmanship.
