Groundworks Estimator

A well-established and employee-owned civil engineering contractor, is looking to appoint an Estimator to join their growing team Chorley, covering projects across the North West. This is an excellent opportunity for a civils or groundworks estimator to join a financially robust contractor with over 30 years' presence in the region, a strong track record with major UK housebuilders, and a long-term pipeline of repeat business.

You will work as part of a collaborative and experienced estimating team, preparing competitive tenders for a wide range of roads, sewers, drainage, and groundworks packages on major housing developments.

• Salary: £35,000-£65,000 depending on experience

• Reviewing tender drawings, specifications, and ground investigation reports
• Conducting take-offs and building estimates using 2D/3D software
• Pricing works including adoptable highways (S278/S38), sewers (S104), earthworks and substructures
• Engaging with suppliers and subcontractors for quotations
• Liaising with operational teams and Contracts Managers to validate outputs and build-ups
• Preparing Bills of Quantities and adjudication documentation for internal review

• Looking for either 2+ years' experience up to a more accomplished Estimator
• Experience estimating civils or groundworks packages for residential or infrastructure projects
• Good understanding of housing infrastructure, including adoptable works, drainage, and substructure
• Experience with Roads & Sewers, Groundworks, S.278 works, etc.
• Strong take-off and measurement skills
• Ability to build rates from first principles
• Working knowledge of estimating software (e.g. Causeway, ConQuest) and confident use of Excel
• A collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills
