People HQ is recruiting on behalf of a leading packaging business for a newly created Group Buyer position, a pivotal role within the Senior Management Team.

The Opportunity

As Group Buyer, you’ll take ownership of procurement strategy across the group, driving cost efficiencies, strengthening supplier partnerships, and ensuring consistent quality and supply across operations.

You’ll be working at Senior Management level, shaping purchasing strategy that directly protects margin, enhances performance, and supports on-time delivery to customers in a fast-moving FMCG environment. This is a commercially driven leadership position with real influence across the business.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Developing and executing group-wide purchasing strategies


• Leading high-value negotiations and closing commercial deals


• Managing and strengthening key supplier relationships


• Leveraging bulk purchasing to drive economies of scale


• Monitoring market trends and forecasting price movements


• Performing cost analysis, benchmarking, and risk mitigation


• Tracking KPIs to reduce expense and improve supply chain effectiveness


• Aligning procurement activity with demand forecasting and inventory planning


• Ensuring quality standards are consistently met


• Overseeing purchase orders and resolving supplier issues


• Your contribution will directly safeguard product quality, delivery performance, and commercial competitiveness.

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience, ideally within FMCG or a similar fast-paced sector


• Demonstrable experience developing and leading purchasing strategies


• Strong commercial acumen and negotiation capability


• Confident communicator with the ability to influence at senior level


• Proven leadership and team direction skills


• Strong analytical ability — comfortable with cost modelling and market forecasting


• Degree in Business Management or similar (preferred)


• You’ll need to be assertive, highly organised, commercially sharp, and comfortable operating at senior level with frequent travel to the UK site.
