This is a hands-on role, working closely with the CFO to deliver tangible results and oversee five key business areas. Description

The Group Financial Controller will play a critical leadership role at the heart of a business's finance function. Acting as the CFO's right hand person, you'll be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and ensuring the business meets all regulatory and compliance requirements. But beyond the numbers, it's a commercially focused role - providing strategic insight, driving operational efficiency, and supporting decision-making at the highest level. Additional responsibilities will include;

• Lead the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accurate financial reporting (P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow).
• Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage and develop the finance team across accounts payable, receivable, and management accounting functions.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning, providing analysis to support strategic decision-making.
• Coordinate statutory reporting, tax compliance, and liaise with auditors during the year-end audit process.
• Monitor cash flow and working capital, manage banking relationships, and drive continuous improvements in financial processes.

Profile

For this Group Financial Controller role based in Harrogate, we're looking for:

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CPA).
• Proven leadership of high-performing accounting teams.
• Strong background in statutory reporting and financial consolidations.
• Hands-on experience building or enhancing financial control environments.
• Clear communicator, confident with stakeholders at all levels, including non-finance leadership.
• A balance of strategic thinking and roll-up-your-sleeves execution

Job Offer

Salary up to £95,000 + c.10% Bonus + Hybrid working pattern (2-3 days on-site per week) + Great office space + Wider package
