Group Managing Director

We are seeking a tactile Group Managing Director with experience in the house building/construction markets, you'll enjoy commercial exposure as well as the personal touch. You will thrive on the hands-on nature of running a Medium sized business. Based in Lincolnshire, we want you to drive our people forward to ensure we grow from our solid foundations.
 
BASIC SALARY: £120,000 - £150,000

JOB DESCRIPTION: Group Managing Director - Construction
 
You'll look to partner with all department heads across our diverse group of companies, as well as staying close to our key customers, our competition and market development. As the Managing Director you should be a proven people manager as well as an inspirational leader, thriving off inspiring from shop floor to boardroom.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
As the Managing Director, you will be involved in everything we do in terms of business development, account management, operational excellence, and business intelligence. We are very financially stable and have a strong portfolio of existing projects and customers as well as future options. You will be used to overseeing circa £10-40million in turnover. We have 5 different businesses in the group so there is variation, experience of this size of operation would be very advantageous, you will also:
· Build and promote a long-term business plan that provides a path for the future growth and development of the group.
· Identify and pursue new areas of development and follow through with land and strategic purchases.
· Manage and drive the senior leadership team and focus on leading commercial growth of the group.
· Review our management controls for all operations and divisions within the group and ensure the SLT are following and reacting to those controls.
· Work closely with the Group Financial Controller to ensure sound and viable financial decisions are made.
· Ensure accurate and efficient management of data for strategic decision-making and to drive growth.
 
PERSON SPECIFICATION: Group Managing Director - Construction
 
To be successful in your application, you will already be a driven and experienced MD, Commercial Director, Country Manager or General Manager, and you may now be looking for the next step of your career or a fresh challenge with an established group.
 
Either way you will have:
· A strong and proven leader who can work in structured and controlled manner but be able think outside of the box and be innovative when required.
· A proven track record of developing and growing SMEs with minimum £20-£25million turnover within the construction, house building or closely associated markets.
· Tenacity and drive in approaching and engaging with everyone, internally and externally.
· Influencing skills and a persuasive manner, the ability to get others to 'buy in' to you and your approach.
· A background in being in the trenches with your staff, we run a collaborative family feel type organization. We need someone who buys into this ethos and embodies it every day.
