The Role

We’re looking for a Grower / Horticultural Production professional to join a well-established and highly respected horticultural business. You’ll be involved in growing a wide range of bedding plants and perennials, taking plants from young stock and seedlings through to finished, sale-ready plants. It’s a hands-on role covering all the usual aspects of plant husbandry, including watering and irrigation, feeding, weeding, pruning and propagation. You’ll also be involved in grading and sorting plants, keeping an eye on pests and diseases, and helping with the general upkeep and maintenance of the growing areas and facilities. It’s a great opportunity for someone who enjoys growing plants, likes being hands-on and wants to be part of a busy, commercial horticultural operation.

The Person

We’re open-minded about where you’ve gained your experience. We’d be interested in people coming from any areas of horticulture, as long as you have a good understanding of plants and enjoy the practical side of horticulture. Experience with bedding plants and perennials would be ideal, but we’re happy to consider good horticultural experience that can be transferred into the role.

We’re really looking for someone who:

* Has a genuine interest in plants and horticulture.

* Enjoys being hands-on and getting stuck into the growing process.

* Has a good understanding of plant care and husbandry.

* Can spot when something isn’t quite right with a crop.

* Is organised and comfortable working to growing schedules.

* Works well as part of a team.

* Wants to learn, develop and take on more responsibility.

A horticultural qualification would be useful, but practical experience and the right attitude are just as important.
