Head Chef Position Available at a Leading Care Home- 4 days per week
Are you a culinary expert with a passion for creating nutritious and delicious meals? A prestigious care home is seeking a dedicated Head Chef to lead its kitchen team and elevate the dining experience for its residents.
Pay and Schedule:
- Salary: £15 - £16 an hour DOE
- Shift Times: 7am – 5pm, 4 days per week
- Weekend Requirement: Working every other weekend

Key Responsibilities:
- Culinary Excellence: Prepare, cook, portion, and present meals to high standards.
- Budget Management: Efficiently manage kitchen budgets and resources.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to H.A.C.C.P, Health and Safety, and Food Hygiene standards.
- Team Leadership: Train, develop, and supervise kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team.
- Menu Development: Plan and cost menus that cater to the diverse dietary needs of residents.
- Stock Control: Monitor and control stock levels, ensuring proper rotation and minimal wastage.
- Customer Feedback: Attend resident meetings to receive and act on feedback regarding the food service.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Catering Experience: Proven experience in a catering environment.
- Food Hygiene Certification: Intermediate or Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Equipment Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of handling kitchen equipment, including knives.
- Leadership: Strong leadership skills with a track record of achieving food margins.
- H.A.C.C.P Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of H.A.C.C.P and its implementation.
- Menu Planning: Experience in menu writing, planning, and costing.
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Caring Nature: Genuine interest in working within a caring environment.
Desirable Skills:
- Nutritional Knowledge: Previous experience working with nutritional information.
Additional Requirements:
- DBS: Ideally have a DBS or willing to undertake one
